St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Columbia, SC

If you have glanced at the front page of today’s paper, you will notice a very large leprechaun on the left side, and write up about one of the Nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day Festivals that has has an annual turn out of about 35,000 people.

The fun starts Friday night, March 12th. with the “Battle of the Bands” from 6:00-10:00 p.m.
Six local bands will battle it out for a spot to play in Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival!
This event is free of charge and is located on Santee Avenue in Five Points.

Saturday, March 13th’s
Festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. with the St. Pats get to the Green 5K run, 1 mile walk. This is the largest roadrace in the midlands.
You may register on the day of the race from 7-8:00 a.m.
It is $30 for the 1mile walk and $40 for the 5K run.
The starting line for Get to the Green is at the Blossom/Santee intersection.
**Awards are given to the best drest leprechaun**.

TheSt. Pat’s Parade starts at 10 am and begins on Devine St.

There will be live music played throughout the day on 4 stages around 5 Points, starting around noon and gong till 6:00 p.m. There will be 19 bands. Tickets are $15.

There is also a Children’s carnival with rides, games, magic shows, karaoke, and much much more that starts at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 6:00 p.m.

This is a very popular, and fun filled festival for the whole family. Come check it out, and don’t forget to wear your green!
